AARP Scam workshop at Lennox Library

 I went to the AARP workshop today, and here are a few notes from it.


Here are two reliable websites to check to research for financial advice:

Brokercheck Brokercheck.finra.org


When looking for scams, the big three common red flags are:

1) Unexpected communication
2) Emotional reaction (Something that causes this)
3) Immediate action (Urgent)


Common types of scams include:

Imposter scams, unconventional payment methods, fake social media profiles, phishing, romance scams,

They played a video and some of their participants

Decided to volunteer, in something called VOA

ReST program,


 Volunteers of America (VOA) have created a new program to help you. It's  VOA | ReST, which stands for Resilience, Strength and Time. The program is designed to address the emotional impact of your experience. We offer free, facilitated peer discussion groups that seek to provide emotional support for you and others in similar situations. Family members are invited to participate at your discretion.
