Antidiscrimination & Antiracism
The LA County Prevention Services Task Force, which is supported by the Anti-Racism, Diversity, & Inclusion (ARDI) Initiative, is engaged in a multi-departmental, Countywide process to reimagine LA County's prevention systems and services. This effort spans across physical and mental health, social services, housing and homelessness, aging and independence, child welfare and family services, economic opportunity, and many other essential service areas that support our communities.
On April 17, the Prevention Services Task Force submitted an Executive Summary, 14 cross-cutting recommendations, and Detailed Summary
to the Board of Supervisors regarding how the County can effectuate a
comprehensive, community-based delivery system for prevention and
promotion services. These materials represent a culmination of work from
dozens of Task Force representatives and incorporates feedback received
from hundreds of residents and County staff.
The Task Force will utilize this Friday’s meeting to discuss Phase 2 implementation plans, including discussing and selecting priority focus areas which departments and agencies will collaborate on over the coming months, such as homelessness and housing or child and family wellbeing. Members will discuss potential outcomes, target populations, and strategies to bolster prevention and promotion efforts and address racial disproportionalities and disparities.
